Tomas Berdych found free time in his programme and came to visit tennis club in Valasske Mezirici on the Christmas day (Dec 25th). So young tennis players (in age from 7 to 15 ) could play with this famous former pupil of this tennis club and children could have the nicest days in year.
You came back on the courts of Valasske Mezirici where you started to play tennis and children had glad-time because fo you.
The christmas is the main reason of my decision to come here. It seems that you can come back home only on christmas days in todays stressfull life. And during my staying home we (me + my parents) thought up this action with children. The tennis season is very tired and I can get home only at the weekends. So I consider the christmas days as something special, unusual. I like staying on christmas days at home with my family.
Were you surprised from any christmas gift?
I usually buy the christmas gifts alone for myself and so I have pleasure from them. But the best thing is staying home with all my family because we see each other not very often during the tennis season.
I think the Masters tournament in Paris was the nicest present for you.
Exactly. Paris was the culminating point in this season and Golden Canary Award was also great. You have good and bad days, it’s impossible to play consistent great tennis all the year, exception of Roger Federer.
Is Roger Federer in your opinion the best tennis player now?
Sure. He is number 1 without any discussion. Althoug Nadal had great series of results but he can’t be on the top with her style of play as long as Roger Federer.
Do you have any favourite tournament or place you like stay there?
There are many nice places – much more that the places I dislike. My the most favourite tournament must be Paris Bercy after this year (smile :-) It was great prepared tournament from organizers with great experience for me.
Which tournament (without „sweet Paris“) do you like ?
I like also Indian Wells in California. They built practically this tennis areal on the desert and the wind is very important for your play. If it is windy, sand from desert is on the court and you do footsteps like on the clay. Sometimes is the match suspended for this reason.
Do u have favourite assistent between the sportsmen“ - playstation with you on the tournaments?
Yes I do (smile :-) I like playing sports and car-games. But I like playing golf the most of my free time now.
Did you get also to the „real golf“?
Yes I started wtih my first golf shots about 2 years ago. We have big advantage because u usually get to the golf very easily on the tennis tour . Tennis courts and golf areals are very close to each other or there are united as part of one big areal.
I hope you will not be traded to become professional golf player.
No, no (smile :-) I rather stay in my current sport. Even I don’t have my own golf cleeks.
You and the football player Milan Baros are the most successful sportsmen from Valasske Mezirici. Do you know him personally?
I see her career and results but unfortunately I have never met him yet. But my tennis friend Jarda Levinsky knows him so maybe we could meet one day.
Do you have any time for other sports, e.g. skiing?
I love skiing and I ski in my free time in winter.
The winter olympic games in Italian Torino is coming. Do you wanna see any sport there?
If I finish any tournament sooner (logically if I loose 1st round (smile :-) I would see specially good ice-hockey match in Torino. It would be really great.
Do you have any special goal for next tenis season?
I don’t want to have any special and unreal goals for next season and after that become disappointed . I would stay in same position as I have today. If I finish next season with number 1, which have not to be independent [he says about numeral] (smile) I would be very satisfied.
