This week Tomas will play in San Jose.

In the first round he faces Wayne Odesnik (USA).

Tomas played once against the number 109 of the world and won this match.

The first round will be played on Monday, 8th February, the second match after 7:00 p.m. on Center Court.

Tomas plays doubles as well. His partner is German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

They face the third seeded team in the opening round, Jean-Julien Rojer (AHO) and Joahn Brunstrom (SWE).

Today Tomas played his second round match in Melbourne against Kazakhstan’s Evgeny Korolev.

Unfortunately Tomas serve wasn’t as strong as it is usually and Korolev took almost every break chance he had.

That is why Korolev was able to beat Tomas in three sets, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.

His next tournament will be San Jose, starting on 8th February.

Tomas started with a confident victory into the season 2010. His first round opponent Robin Haase from the netherlands had no chance. Tomas beat him 6-0 6-3 6-3.

Even Tomas won that confidente he served only two aces and just hit 50% of his first serve. That shows there is a lot of more potential in his service game.

That match was scheduled for monday but due to the rain it was played Tuesday.
In the 2nd Round he will face Kazakhstan’s Evgeny Korolev (he played before for Russia). Korolev beat German Daniel Brands 6-2 7-5 7-5 in the first round.

In the first round of the Australian Open 2010, starting Monday, 18th January, Tomas will face Robin Haase (NED).

The head to head between both players is 1-1.

Their last match against each other was in 2007 and Haase won it.

Tomas is seeded as number 21 and is in the third quarter of the draw. In his quarter are Andy Roddick and Juan Martin del Potro.

Due to the rain the first round match will be played on Tuesday, 19th January on Court 7 at 11 a.m.

After a bye in the first round Tomas faced Australian wildcard Peter Luczak in the second round.

The first set was pretty good for Tomas, he did not allow Luczak to have any break chances on his own service game while he was able to use all break chances he had himself. That is why Tomas won this set 6-1.

However, the Australian improved his game and managed to save all break points Tomas had in the second set. He won the set with one break difference with 6-4.

In the deciding third set it was Luczak again who was the stronger one during the service games. He used this advantage to defeat Tomas in three sets with 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Tomas’ next tournament will be the Australian Open.

The 2nd tournament of the season is the Medibank International ATP Tournament in Sydney. The Main draw starts monday.

Tomas has a bye in the first round, as he is number 2 seed. In the 2nd Round he will face the winner between Jose Acasusuo (ARG) and wildcard Peter Luczak (AUS).

In his semi-final match in Brisbane Tomas faced American and top seeded Andy Roddick.

He started extremely well. With wonderful returns and his powerful game, Tomas was able to win this first set 6-1.

However, Roddick fought back immediatley. He broke Tomas’ serve in the first service game of the second set and took a lead. Finally Roddick won the set 6-3.

Now both players had won one set and the match was more balanced.

Unfortunately Tomas lost his serve at the end of the third set at 4-4 and the American managed to win the match with the final score 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Although Tomas lost this match, it was a great tournament and a wonderful start in the new season!

His next tournament will be Sydney, starting on Sunday, 10th January.

Tomas won in a marathon match against Brasilian Tomasz Bellucci 7-6(4) 2-6 7-6(3).

Brisbane is the first tournament of the season 2010 and it started with at least a semifinal. In the semifinal Tomas will face Andy Roddick. Roddick beat Gasquet 6-3 7-6 in the Quarterfinal.

Andy and Tomas played five times against each other. Andy is leading 3:2 vs. Tomas. This match is scheduled n.b. 12:30 noon.
