Tomas started very well in the tournament.
In the first two rounds, he did not lose a set. He beat Italian F. Volandri 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round.
Afterwards he faced J. Benneteau from France and defeated him 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
In the third round, Tomas’ opponent will be A. Bogomolov Jr.

After the 1/2-final loss in Halle, the next tournament starts on Monday.
Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the year, is on the schedule.
Tomas is seeded on position 6 and will face Italian F. Volandri in the opening round.

It is time for the grass courts again!
Tomas’ first tournament on grass is like usual, the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany.
He is the second seeded player, after topseeded R. Federer, and faces a qualifier in the opening round.

This week, the second Grand Slam tournament of the year takes place in Paris.
Tomas was seeded on position 6 and faced Stephane Robert (Fra) in the first round.
At the beginning, it seemed like Tomas was in control of the match. He won the first two sets 6-3, 6-3.
Afterwards, the match turned and Robert dominated, he won set 3 and 4 with 6-2, 6-2.
The fifth set had to determine the winner of the match. Early in the set, Tomas saved break points during his own service game, to stay in the match. However, at 7-7, he lost his serve and this was the deciding moment. Robert held his service game afterwards and won the match. 3-6, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, 9-7.

After his second round win, Tomas faced E. Gulbis in the following round.
Tomas defeated Gulbis, who got a wildcard for the tournament, with 6-1, 6-4.
In the 1/2-final, Tomas had to play against N. Almagro from Spain.
Tomas lost the semifinal 4-6, 4-6.

The week before Roland Garros, Tomas plays a tournament in Nice, France, in order to prepare for the next Grand Slam.
Tomas is seeded on position 2 and had a bye in the first round.
In his first match, Tomas faced A. Mannarino (Fra). Tomas started well in the tournament, he defeated Mannarino in their first meeting with 6-1, 6-4.
Masters 1000 – Rome

During the last Masters 1000 before Roland Garros, Tomas is seeded on position 7.
That means that he had a bye in the first round again.
In the second round waited Juan Monaco (Arg) for Tomas.
Tomas had a good start in the tournament, he won the match 6-2, 6-2.
In the third round, J. Nieminen was Tomas’ opponent. Although Tomas was a bit unlucky in the second set (he lost the tie-breaker), he won the first and third set easily. With the 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-2 win, he was in the 1/4-final.
In the round where only 8 players are left, Tomas played against R. Gasquet who defeated R. Federer the round before. Gasquet, who had a great week in Rome, defeated Tomas with 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
However, Tomas played doubles as well! His partner was L. Dlouhy, they faced M. Fish and A. Roddick in their opening match. Unfortunately, they lost the match 3-6, 6-2, 17-19 after a tough fight.

Because of the fact, that Tomas is seeded on position 7, he had a bye in the first round.
His opponent in the second round of the Masters 1000, was M. Granollers (Esp).
Although Tomas wasn’t as dominating during his own service games as he is used to be, he controlled the match and won it 6-4, 6-0.
Tomas’ next opponent was Juan Monaco (Arg), Tomas defeated Monaco with 7-5, 6-3.
In the 1/4-final, Tomas had to play against T. Bellucci (Bra). Bellucci beat A. Murray, the fourth seeded player, in the round before and his great week should continue. Tomas lost against the Brasilian with 6-7 (2) and 3-6.
